The initial line-up has been announced for 2010’s Sasquatch! Festival. Looks like another winner. In the past I’ve seen an incredible list of bands at the ‘Squatch, including The Arcade Fire (twice), Bjork, Modest Mouse, Grizzly Bear (twice), Wilco, The National, The Shins, Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, The Flaming Lips, Beirut, The Cure, St. Vincent, M83, Bon Iver, The Walkmen, Animal Collective, Girl Talk, Joanna Newsom, Mos Def, Beck, Pixies, Fleet Foxes, Neko Case, M. Ward, The Dodos, Calexico, Blitzen Trapper, White Rabbits, and several others.

[Short break to catch my breath]

So, this year’s line up is out, and it could be one of the best years yet. Here’s a taste:

Why?, “A Sky For Shoeing Horses Under”:

Click here for an extremely high quality live video of “The Fall Of Mr. Fifths” and here for “By Torpedo Or Crohn’s” and here for “Gemini (Birthday Song)”. Well worth your clicks. Trust me.

[When we’re on different sides of the globe/I thought we’d keep our veins tangled like a pair of mic cables/And if there ain’t enough slack to reach, then we’d solder them together/’Cross oceans they’d stretch]

The National, a striking brand new song, “The Runaway”:

Broken Social Scene, “Churches Under The Stairs” on Letterman:

Local Natives, “Airplane” (fan video):

Dirty Projectors, “No Intention” live, acoustic:

Pavement, The xx, Neon Indian, Cymbals Eat Guitars, No Age, Vetiver, Dr. Dog, Caribou, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, She & Him, My Morning Jacket, MGMT, The New Pornographers, Japandroids, and it seems like they haven’t even begun to announce comedians (last year, they had Zach Galifianakis and Aziz Ansari, among others).
